Brighter Visions Beam Afar

Fresh on the heels of Go When The Morning Shineth and We Walked In Song, The Innocence Mission’s Don Peris is releasing a new CD. Entitled Brighter Visions Beam Afar, it’s an instrumental album of classic Christmas hymns and carols arranged for solo guitar. If you’re at all familiar with Peris’ work, you know that it will sound shimmery, ethereal, and rather gorgeous. But if you need some proof, listen to the two tracks on his MySpace page.

What’s more, a portion of the proceeds from the album will go to help those in need during the holiday season. Lovely holiday music and helping your fellow man… it doesn’t get much better than that.

Anytime I listen to Peris’ stylings, I lapse into a contemplative mood. And so to help your Mondays start off on a similar note, I offer you Don and Karen Peris performing “The Brotherhood Of Man” from this year’s We Walked In Song.

    Jason,
Thanks so much for this.  I love Christmas music more than anything else, but Mike says I HAVE to wait until after Thanksgiving, and before Advent is pushing it for him!  Loved the two songs on the mySpace page, and I have listened to them a lot already, just alternating back and forth.  Thanks again!!

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend picking up Sufjan Stevens’ “Songs For Christmas”. It has 5 discs full of Christmas music. It’s mostly very interesting reworkings of the classics, but there are some really great original pieces in there as well. Here’s a link to my review…
