Halloween, Alaska
I’ve been listening to Halloween, Alaska’s self-titled disc today, and was reminded of just how wonderful it is. It’s a absolute godsend for anyone who’s ever listened to the likes of The Blue Nile, Talk Talk, or Bark Psychosis with even the slightest bit of adoration. Wondering what they’re up to, I headed over to the band’s website, and saw this little tidbit of news:
An extremely busy autumn has slowed (notice we didn’t say “thwarted”) progress on the new disc, but so far so good. Release date? We’re thinking winter-ish.
Which means they’ve got 4-5 months left. Here’s hoping…

October 15, 2004 7:07amYou can thank the big man that we are getting anything at all. Lead vocalist Diers moved to the west coast, and it was rumored that they were disbanding.

October 25, 2004 6:09pmI really don’t think the band is breaking up. Last time I saw them perform live (early September?) they played a bunch of new songs and their website says they have a song on the season premier of The O.C…both good signs that they’re continuing to make music wherever the singer is living. I just hope they continue to play out here in Minneapolis!
