Subtraction
Khoi Vinh recently revealed the new design for Subtraction, and it’s a doozy. Vinh’s new design is one of those designs - the kind that inspires you to try and match its brilliance while simultaneously making you want to hang your head in shame. I’ve been working on a possible redesign/restructuring for Opus (more on that later, hopefully), and looking at Vinh’s work, I see so much I can learn from - and how much farther I still have left to go.
It’s a wonderfully simple and beautifully-executed design, from the ultra-minimal color scheme to the hidden interface extras (orange has never looked so cool) to the ingenious use of a grid layout.
