The Dark Side

The Dark Side

Yes, yes, yes… I realize that it’s merely one more in a long line of shameless tie-ins/merchandising schemes allowing George Lucas to milk just a few more dollars from his cash cow, er, modern mythology.  Unfortunately for my cynicism, this particular tie-in happens to be very sweet and delicious, and plays on my chocoholism like a Jedi mind trick.

Unfortunately, it’s next to impossible to find the “Dark Side” (read: dark chocolate) M&M’s anywhere in Lincoln.  Renae and I spent several hours one weekend driving all over town, to no avail.  Luckily, the drugstore near my office had them in stock, and I picked up a couple bags.  And wouldn’t you know it, a few days later, they were all sold out, leaving only those namby-pamby milk chocolate “Jedi” M&M’s for the suckas.

Somehow I doubt the dark chocolate M&M’s will stick around once Revenge Of The Sith has come and gone, which means I’ll need to stock up on a few more bags ASAP.  Seriously, whoever came up with this idea at Mars deserves a raise, and frankly, I’m a little surprised it hasn’t been done before (AFAIK).  I haven’t been this excited about candy in a long time, and nearly everyone who tries them freaks out in a big way.

On a design sidenote, I have to say that I really like the color scheme of the dark M&M’s.  They provide a nice contrast to the normal kind, and those dark, rich colors are quite intoxicating in their own way.

This post just changed my life.  If I don’t find these M&Ms;by tonight, I might lose my mind.

Attention Lincolnites… the Target over on 48th street has the mother lode of these.  I picked up about 6 or 7 bags myself.

Attention everyone (not just Lincolnites).  Yesterday (the 14th), we found dark chocolate and dark peanut M&Ms;at a Target in Connecticut.  Two states makes a trend…Target has the dark chocolate M&Ms;!

It took me all weekend, but I finally found the precious M&Ms;in Baton Rouge.  Walgreens on Siegen and Perkins.  Nobody else I checked had them, though I didn’t try Target.
I bought eight bags.  I need to go back for more, before they run out.

I sprung for a pack on your recommendation and I have to say this is the finest product that commercialism has brought to us since I can’t remember when. I got mine at Kroger so I guess they’re pretty much everywhere now.

The 48th Street Target is sold out—argh! Any other recommendations? I’m dying to get my hands on some of these…

RT, not to worry, as we were putting them in the cart, Jason counted out “One to take to Tredways” (for Firefly watching, of course). However, if you don’t mind peanut M&Ms;I’ll bring a whole bag over for you at tea time to hold you over until you can find more. :)

Does anyone know where to buy the dark m&m’s at this late date? I’d really love to have more.

My fiance’s roommate came across a batch at the local Target last week, so I’m assuming they’re still in the market somewhere.
