Want to download full-length movies from Apple? I do.
Apple might have just had a “Special Event” (and a rather underwhelming one at that - an iPod boombox?!?), but the rumor mills keep on keeping on. This time around, it’s about adding downloadable full-length movies to the iTunes store. If Jobs can make this work without requiring folks to sign up for a subscription (in other words, make it work like the rest of the iTunes store where you just pay per download and then you own the file), I’ll name my firstborn after him (pending wifely approval).

March 3, 2006 8:27amI’d go for it if they improve their video quality without affecting download time too much. If I’m going to download movies from iTunes, I want to be able to watch them pretty close to DVD quality, and I certainly don’t want to be able to see the compression on my 20” display. The downloads I’ve had from them so far don’t measure up.

March 3, 2006 8:52amGood point. My wife and I downloaded a couple of episodes of “Lost” from the store, and when we increased the viewing size a bit, the compression became evident. It didn’t look terrible, but it was definitely VHS-like quality.
